Welcome
to Sialendoscopy-NorthAmerica.com. This website was
designed as an educational tool for patients and professionals
who are researching the treatment of disorders involving
salivary glands such as salivary gland stones, mucous
plugs and stenosis involving the ductal systems.
Sialendoscopy is a minimally invasive endoscopic technique
introduced to complement or replace standard surgical
open procedures. Obvious advantages to this technique
are the minimal recovery time for the patient and the
ability of the surgeon to leave the salivary gland
intact following the procedure.
Pioneered by Dr. Francis Marchal at the University
of Geneva, Switzerland the sialendoscopy procedure
has had tremendous success. It is truly one of the
most fascinating innovations introduced in the last
few years in the field of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck
Surgery.
Dr. Jack Kolenda was the first Canadian Surgeon to
attend the first international sialendoscopy hands-on
course that took place in Geneva, January 2002, accredited
by the European Federation of ORL Societies and the
American Academy of Otolaryngology. Subsequent to his
training, Dr. Kolenda is the first surgeon in Canada
to pioneer this innovative procedure.
We encourage everyone who visits our website to take
advantage and make time to research the sialendoscopy
technique. Please feel free to direct any questions
pertaining to this treatment to our staff or schedule
a consultation appointment with Dr. J. Kolenda.
